About Me
When I was pregnant with my first baby, I assumed birth was something you just had to get through… painful, overwhelming, and a bit undignified. That’s what most of us grow up hearing, isn’t it?
A few months into that pregnancy, a friend introduced me to Hypnobirthing. Out of curiosity, I started reading birth stories and learning more about how birth works. For the first time, I came across stories that described birth as joyful, powerful and even beautiful. It felt like discovering a whole side of birth I’d never been shown before, it all felt so new, yet absolutely not new at the same time, like a deep wisdom has been unlocked.
Our son’s birth was such a beautiful and powerful experience. I came away feeling completely changed - stronger, more confident, and in awe of what birth can be and what my body could do. I’d never known a feeling like it.
In 2019 our daughter was born at home, arriving very quickly just before the midwife made it through the door. And in 2024 we welcomed another baby girl, in a golden freebirth at home, surrounded by our family and wonderful doula. Each birth has been slightly different, but all of them have been deeply joyful, life-affirming experiences.
Experiences that led me to this work.
As a doula and antenatal teacher, I care deeply about helping people feel informed, supported and ready as they prepare for birth and early parenthood. I’m here to walk alongside you, offering a hand, an ear, reassurance and steady support as you follow your own path through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
My work is rooted in the belief that birth isn’t something to be managed or wished away, but a powerful and meaningful rite of passage. Much of what I offer is about helping people reconnect with their instincts, trust their bodies, and feel supported as they find their own way.
The name The Motherbird grew from these ideas. A mother bird builds the nest, tends carefully to what she is protecting, and trusts her instincts about when to shelter, when to watch, and when to let her young take flight.
That image captures a lot of how I see this work, not directing or instructing from above, but creating a safe, steady space where families can grow in confidence and trust themselves.
The name is also deeply personal to me. It’s inspired by my own three little birds at home, who are the reason I do this work and my daily reminder of the tender, powerful job of mothering.
